The Wandering Trader could really do with an update. He appears early game and does provide some useful items, but without access to villagers or foxes (there is a 5% chance for a fox to spawn holding an emerald) there is no way to to trade with him. So perhaps adding a single trade where he gives emeralds (preferable) or maybe a small chance of dropping an emerald on death.
He will trade buckets of pufferfish/tropical fish, so why not water/lava buckets?
At some point, players can get annoyed that he spawns and hangs around for ages, being noisy and often getting in the way. It would be nice if there was a way (without killing him) to let him know you don't want him around. Perhaps a 'Not today, thank you' button in the GUI (Yes, that is a nod to the advancement). After clicking this, he could drink a potion and disappear.
If villagers spawn with boime related outfits, then why not the Wandering Trader too? It would be nice to see some variation in his clothing. Perhaps even an advancement for trading with one of every type?
As seen in many player opinions, he needs more trades, please! I know I mentioned the water/lava buckets above (these are my preferred trades to be added), but there is so much more that he could offer, without becoming over powered.
For example;
- He offers pumpkin seeds and pumkins, but only melon seeds, no melons
- He offers packed ice and even blue ice, but not regular ice
- He offers slimeballs and gunpowder, but not other mob drops such as string
