The Excavator is a fantastic pickaxe (Although I would want it to look more like a drill with sculk growing on it). It mines faster than any tool in the game and can also be enchanted. For a reference for speed, Netherite pickaxes will mine an obsidian block in 8.35 seconds (no enchantments or haste), and the Excavator will mine it in 7 seconds.
Now, if you thought 7 seconds was a fast mining speed, there's more.
Suppose the player is to hold an echo shard in their off-hand and The Excavator in their primary and right-click. In that case, the Excavator becomes supercharged, turning that 7 seconds for obsidian into five and gaining the ability to break three blocks per block.
I worded that strange so let's make some sense of it.
When the player breaks a block with a supercharged Excavator, the two blocks behind that block will also be damaged, meaning excavating a large area has never been easier.
However, there are some drawbacks to such a powerful tool.
-
The Supercharged Excavator requires one echo shard for every 333 blocks broken, and because one block counts as 3, that's only 111 blocks per shard.
-
The Excavator has a durability of 2841 and can only be repaired with diamonds, with each diamond only mending 315 durability points, which isn't the worst for late game. However, it can get tedious if someone decides to go for it early on.

The Excavator is LOUD and will alert sculk sensors relatively fast, so I wouldn't suggest going to the deep dark with this thing.
