we need salt in the game, let me explain
the main reason is: in the real world, copper will oxidize faster when you put salt on it. currently there is no way to let copper oxidize faster instead of letting some air in between. letting copper oxidize is a real pain, in particular in single player worlds.
so why not have salt in minecraft? with salt you will also be able to craft a salt block, which is a gravitational block just like sand and gravel. it also will be a great new white-ish block to use in amazing build, so even the building community will be happy. furthermore with salt and fish you can make pickled fish which will give you 6 food points, which is 1 more than cooked cod i believe.
you will be able to obtain salt in different ways: 1. cooking a bucket of (salt) water whcih will give you between 1-4 salt and 2. while mining in certain areas where you can find salt veins, in for example the badlands and sand-beach biome, not too far underground, but under sea level.
also salt will be able to trade with certain villagers since salt was used to be a currency, trade it for example with a butcher, like start with 12 or so salt for 1 emerald?
me and my friends would love to see this feature appear, greetings from the Netherlands!
