Minecraft has a lot of blocks, but what if they had more? Why do we need them? Please don't just add lists of things - these will be marked as spam and removed! Also, no furniture, guns, or vertical/"sideways"/"upright"/"standing" slabs (yes, we see you).

Quartz Crystals

As part of the new Caves, I think it would be cool for quartz to generate as crystals in clusters in dripstone caves and naturally spawn in 2-5 spots in a 5x5x5 area on Y-levels 15-35, in way a similar to Amethyst, but not necessarily in geodes. They could be found on Budding Quartz blocks and fully mature crystals drop as the Quartz item and can be placed on walls like Amethyst. This could be a great alternative rather than having Quartz Ore in the overworld. However, the progression to obtain it would have to be similar to entering the Nether somehow, or it can at least be a lesser source of Quartz than in the nether.

    In real life, gold can sometimes crystalize in quartz. Maybe you could add a 2.5% chance of breaking a quartz block to drop a gold nugget?
