one major problem with Minecraft is that a lot of features are completely unknowable to some players unless they here about them from someone else. my solution? add little hints to features throughout the world in the form of paintings and chiseled blocks.
lore paintings
these would be uncraftable paintings that can be found in many of Minecraft's structures. they would depict some hints towards features in the game. for example, a massive painting depicting a eye of ender leading to a stronghold. or a fully charged beacon. sometimes pictures would be made up of multiple paintings collected from different structures to complete the picture. these features serve as great collectables and teaching players more about the game
lore chiseled blocks. some chiseled blocks already have some lore built into them but not enough. similar to painting multiple chiseled block can be found in structures making up huge pictures. it would be annoying for these blocks to each have their own nbt data and need to be non stackable so there would only be a couple of picture that could be made from chiseled blocks and when collecting them the first block you place will be the bottom left corner and the corresponding pattern will appear when another is placed next to it.
what happens to regular paintings and chiseled blocks?
if the dev wishes to keep paintings in the game these new paintings could be called murals and chiseled blocks could still be kept the same.
