Lava buckets in the game currently smelt 100 times. This is a bit of an unusual number in minecraft and I think changing a lava bucket to smelt 64 or 128 times would make more sense.
This would make smelting calculations more straightforward as one could think in terms of "stacks" instead of 100s, which has a variety of advantages. Most notably planning resource collection and setting up smelting.
Making this change would also give more relevance to the lava bucket as it would make more sense when using. I think 64 or 128 items would both make sense and not significantly alter the lava bucket's current role in smelting. 64 may make more sense due to the fact that lava buckets have recently become an automated renewable resource. 128 has advantages in that it makes lava buckets a very relevant fuel source.
there are also some thought regarding coal blocks smelting 80 blocks. Which then has implications for why does crafting a full block use nine components instead of 8. That would make the math work out perfectly, but this might be too big of a change due to its implications for other blocks like iron and diamond blocks. Although i would also suggest diamond/iron etc. blocks are crafted with just 8 parts, and not 9
