In Minecraft, the Spider mob will become hostile at night yet will become a neutral mob in the daytime. While this works in the setting of Minecraft, it appears that this depiction of spiders may not be completely accurate to their real-life counterparts. For example, many species of spiders will most likely cower away from people rather than attacking. However, if they are provoked, they will become aggressive and try to defend themselves. While this is somewhat accurate to the Minecraft counterpart there are still misconceptions about the species that can damage the reputation of real spiders. If there are new spider mobs included, there may be a chance to see how spiders could behave differently based on how each species functions. For example, a trapdoor spider in real life would be considered an ambush predator where it would construct a burrow in order to surprise incoming prey. This could possibly translate as a neutral mob that could become activated when a mob or player walks nearby their location. Other ideas could include a diving bell spider that can thrive around aquatic biomes, jumping spiders, wolf spiders, and others. While not all of these ideas need to be used, the inclusion of spiders which behave differently from each other depending on the type of mob can help make the depiction of spiders more realistic and less like hostile beasts. However, it may not be a good idea to make a spider mob passive because they can be dangerous if provoked.
