It bugs me that the new massive caves that I've been seeing in trailers for this game since I was 8. Are filled with unfamiliar, overly-smooth, and dark blocks. It doesn't help that Deepslate is also super hard to break which bugs me and my friends, who worked super hard to set up a mining beacon recently.
I have absolutely no beef with the texture artists for this and I know the more "buildy" side of the community is in love with this stuff. I just wish that Deeplslate was exclusive to Deep Dark biomes and cities. Or heck maybe even have it's own biome where ore is more common, since I do think these blocks could do amazing if they didn't try to replace everything.
An even more far out idea I had was maybe make it so Deepslate is blast resistant like obsidian. This way the more "buildy" side of the community I mentioned could build better structures that also were hardier against grief.
Again, I have no beef with the team who made these textures, it's just the fact that these new blocks are trying to replace an iconic and teased part of Minecraft, it's sprawling caves just doesn't sit right with me.
