1.8.10 update suggestion

With Minecraft currently being on 1.18.2, experimenting with 1.19, and even making a completely new combat system, a majority of players still decide to play on version 1.8.9.  This is because, in the opinion of the majority of minecraft players, 1.9 ruined the game's combat system.  1.8.9 was released in 2015, and it needs an update.

I feel like it would be beneficial to the Minecraft community if an updated version of 1.8 was released in the near future.  This would allow players to benefit from the updates of higher versions while keeping the PVP style and game modes from 1.8.  

Such an update would need feedback from the 1.8 community, though, as many of the current updates cause lag and have caused controversy.  For example, the elytra is notorious for being the cause of many servers crashing.  It has also been banned on a good percentage of multiplayer servers for its overpowered nature.  

In my own opinion, this update should include: (all just off the top of my head good updates from versions past 1.9)
updated textures
updated ender pearl mechanics
the nether update
soul sand and magma block mechanics
aquatic update
villager update
etc
