The mechanic of certain mobs being scared of others (creepers of cats, skeletons of wolfs...) is a neat concept to me, so I think it'd be interesting if there were also specific scents that would affect most mobs.
Potions
These scents would be obtained as status effects, via potions. The ingredient for making potions of Sweet-Smelling would be a new item crafted from several different flowers. For potions of Odor, it would obviously be rotten flesh. (I considered the poisonous potato but that would be sacrilege)
Effects
With Sweet-Smelling, passive mobs such as animals, and some neutral mobs like Piglins, are attracted to the affected mob. It'd attract bees in particular from up to 75 blocks away. The Warden especially enjoys the smell, being calmed upon noticing this scent. The ender dragon could also be affected by the smell, resting at the portal when afflicted by tipped arrows, but that might be a stretch. Additionally, undead mobs like zombies and skeletons are scared of the smell. Mobs that don't like Sweet Smelling, as well as the Warden, are stunned when afflicted themselves.
With Odor, it's the opposite; non-undead mobs avoid the scent like the plague, while undead mobs are drawn like moths to a lamp. Iron and Snow Golems would also attack mobs with Odor, and Villagers would increase trade prices. Rather than being stunned, afflicted mobs would panic, trying to get the smell off to no avail.
Thank you for reading this, and I would love to hear some feedback for my idea!
