In the desert you can find tombs. On the surface, however, you can never find these. They are below the sand, but above the stone. (So in between the sandstone and the lower layers of sand.) To find them, you have to dig. The only way of knowing where one is finding a desert cartographer, and buying a new "Desert explorer map" which will mark an X where the tomb is, and that is where you excavate. Finding one without a map is like finding a needle in a haystack. In the tomb, there can be a max up to 67 rooms, so they are quite large. The minimum is 52. Each room is filled with traps like the simple ones found in Jungle Temples, and more complicated ones such as false entrances, and falling sand that can suffocate you. At the end you fight a mini boss called the pharaoh. It gives you mining fatigue like the Elder Guardian so you can't just mine to them. You start by opening a new type of chest, the sarcophagus, which can hold as many as 3 small chests. The pharaoh comes out and the battle begins. It can float up like the Wither, and summons cobras that home at you and bite with poison. (These cobras can also be found in the wild too). They can use their staff and lighting will strike right on you from the ceiling. Other attacks can be used. The pharaoh drops paper, rotten flesh, diamonds, lapis lazuli, gold, a trophy like the staff, and exp. The loot in the chest can contain these things as well as others. These can also be found above ground as pyramids too, but are rarer.
