Premise:
The deepslate version of ores take longer to mine than the regular stone version.
While, yes, deepslate version ores can be found in bigger quantities for some of the ores the deeper in the world they are they still take considerably longer to mine than the stone version ores, even in optimal "Haste II + Efficiency V" mining situations (which actually makes the difference in mining time/speed quite prominent).
Idea:
With that in mind, the suggestion would be so deepslate version of ores could have a +1 drop range for ore/raw metal item when mined normally (that is, without Silk Touch and not considering any levels of the Fortune enchantment), or even at least have something such as small chance (say, of 25%) of dropping +1 of the item.
• Example I:
Iron Ore always drops 1 Raw Iron, but the Deepslate Iron Ore could then drop 1-2 Raw Iron (or have a X% chance of dropping +1 Raw Iron)
• Example II:
Lapis Lazuli Ore can drop 4-9 Lapis Lazuli, but the Deepslate Lapis Lazuli Ore could then drop either 4-10 (+1 to the max. amount) or 5-10 (+1 for both min. and max. amounts) Lapis Lazuli (or have a X% chance of adding +1 to the amount of dropped Lapis Lazuli)
Those changes (especially with Fortune) could help compensate for the extra time and slower speed that it takes for mining deeper down in the world (and also the possible higher dangers with the increased amount of mob spawning lower in the world, perilous terrain of caves and lava lakes, and the upcoming Deep Dark biome).
