The composter already has values for different items being used on it, allowing players to use specific item(s) to fill the composter [sweet berries, glow berries, apples, beetroot] and create different benifitial jams that can be stored in bottles and provide smaller potion buffs that can be extended by eating bread [or potatoes with beetroot jam]
Recipes would consist of player adding the verity of the items with catalysts like moss, sugarcane, wheat, and other organic materials at the top. This process should take much longer than obtaining bonemeal from the composter.
removing potion cauldrons from bedrock and adding potion composters to both editions could allow players to brine full stacks of carrots or potatoes, with any potions obtained after having side effects from the process of giving simple food small buffs.
Perhaps brining golden apples is how enchanted golden apples are obtained
Further processing [baked potato, golden carrot] could enhance or change properties gained from brine.
Finally, having larger decanter made from a mix of tinted glass and amethyst shards could allow for storage of a developing tincture.
With glass bottles storing jam consumable like honey, and concept vessels storing what is made to age, getting stronger with incrementally smaller portions of time until the "potion" lasts a full day cycle.
Sweet berry: resistence+ regeneration
Glow berry: speed+strength
Both would be worth waiting for the power/time increases.
