Using a hoe on Mycelium should create a new type of farmland, called Mycorrhizae, which either slightly boosts crops growth or slightly increases the yield of crops that grow on it. Maybe it can also be used to grow non-crop plants as well, like saplings, bamboo, sugar cane etc. to boost their growth.
In real life, Mycorrhizae is the symbiotic relationship between plant roots and mycelia, which allows for increased nutrient uptake from the soil, increasing the growth of the plant.
Introduction of Mycorrhizae provides three major functions:
- It adds slightly more depth to farming, allowing the user to choose to seek out an incredibly rare block to slightly boost the rates of their crop farms.
- It adds another use for Mycelium and, by association, encourages players to explore and seek out the rare Mushroom Island biomes (Which in my opinion are a little bit underwhelming for how rare they are).
- It teaches players a real-life lesson about mutual symbiotic relationships in the world, where Plant and Fungi can work together for mutual benefit.
