When you are making your redstone suggestions, please note that Java and Bedrock will not have the exact same the same redstone systems - this would require redoing redstone system completely on one platform or the other. The two systems are functionally different and are going to stay that way. Please be sure to tag your suggestions with (Java) or (Bedrock).

The complete disregard for one of the most commonly used blocks in redstone is quite appaling to see. It would be better if Allays simply didn't use the noteblock but another block.

It hardly matters at all what it will do to redstone contraptions, either adapt to changes or stop playing the game. They shouldn't be prevented from updating and changing their game how they see fit just because the edgy teens that make up the tech community whine and complain about every little change that's made. And the fact that there's still an option to block the sound should be more than enough. Bottom line here is people are just too lazy to make the necessary changes to contraptions and want a solution that doesn't require doing any work at all. Hardly a reason to make such a request, and even less of a reason to expect them to take it seriously.

Not only does this change force you to not use noteblocks in a huge amount of cases if you care about your redstone contraption being silent, it also affects not only hardcore redstoners, it affects regular players as well who use redstone contraptions in their bases and around their worlds. Now if they use for example a storage system they took from an online source they will be forced to listen to an endless onslaught of "ding ding ding ding ding" while dropper elevators fire and other things are happening which would be extremely annoying. Furthermore this does not add any functionality, all it does is limit the way you can use noteblocks with no apparent benefit, once again options are taken away from redstoners with no compensation and complete disregard of their interests.

Another solution would be to add an extra note to the note block which plays no sound at all, so we wouldn't need to use any blocks at all to mute note blocks

I like the idea of a noteblock with a default state of no note. It's not until interated with that the note is set.

I like the idea of the default no-sound option except if you use note locks for player data entree that doesn't work well. I have commented elsewhere, but agree the note locks making noises in so many more situations is a very bad change.

This is a very beneficial change, because it allows minecraft songs to be compactified. The solution for redstoners is to mute the jukebox/noteblocks volume option. This way both the note block community and the redstone community could be happy.

    To Mojang,

As you can easily see im not the only one wanting a change about your recent addition to the game(technically its just a snapshot so its subject to change which is why im writing this) i understand that you wanted to do this for the ALLAY but a lot of people beg to differ because u unknowingly ruined a lot of redstone contraptions i suggest unlike some people dont revert the change instead make a compromise such as “make a silent note” or “make a new block with the same properties” or “make hoppers the exception instead of EVERY BLOCK EXCEPT WOOl” these are not my ideas but ones suggested by a youtuber and people commenting here and your method does add more functionality to wool but.. we already have enough of a reason to use it it was used even before it has the sculk use now with it i dont think it needs more even if it does theres room for improvement in other directions some things should be tweaked and modified but then there are some old things that is best to leave how it is as to not make a bad change i hope you agree

Honestly, I’m for reversing what they did to note block. The current change right now will make many Redstone contraptions way too noisy, and was only added for the allay. There is another way without changing noteblock that could stop the allay from throwing items to the noteblock, just stop powering noteblock. As the allay is a new feature added, I think if changing behavior of already existing mechanics can be avoided, it should, given that there’s an easy solution to the allay that already exist in game.

    Agreed

I think that this would get reverted anyways because it's only for the allay

Edit : OMG THEY REVERTED IT TYSM

I believe a new block that does what the note block for redstone is in order regardless if the changes are reverted or not.

The note blocks current use cases are bloated and a new silent version of the same block for redstone would be a welcome addition.

You could even add new functionality to this new block like different signal strengths for different blocks and cut out observers as the middle man in some instances.

mojang should add a silent note to the noteblock

I think either the noteblock starting in a mute state or being mutable with sneak-right-click is the solution.  Even if this is only a toggle for in-game audio (i.e. allays still are attracted to the noteblock unless muted by wool/carpet).

Default silent note/shift right click to mute would be amazing. This would fix everything. And for people saying these are just people complaining about small things, a huge red stone community uses note blocks absolutely everywhere.

why doesn't Minecraft make a new block that does the same stuff the old note block did update blocks but with no noise? then all of us can be happy. So yea that's what I think that Minecraft should do.

As a bedrock user that doesn't have these changes I say we should keep note blocks normal

what if instead of making the exception block wool we made one block or a specific set of blocks not mute note blocks. Like maybe if you place like lapis or something like that? (to give the item more use)

I personally like the Idea of adding a "silencing wax" to mute the noteblock, similar to how wax prevents copper corrosion

I think that making a new block is the most reasonable solution.

Minecraft is making amazing things with Minecraft but this is just another one of there... un-liked idea, like adding the copper golem into the mob vote, most of the votes for the allay was probably kids on there mom's phones on whatever app we could vote on Minecraft mob vote because they thought that the allay could duplicate blocks, and the other un-liked idea is when they... you know i dont know but the only two that i could think of is, the note block and its wool-only-muting-thing, and not adding the copper golem, i will always miss the copper golem, no matter what (rip copper golem) also i thought the allay would follow you when it grabs ithems and spew all the ithems that it got near a note block, not just spew it strait out at you, welp yea, tanks for reading this long comment, byeeee

Leave our note blocks alone, they are essential and longstanding parts of redstone contraptions. Maybe the allay could use a bell instead?
