Feedback for Echo Shards: Echo Shrapnel

The Echo Shards were just added to Minecraft as of snapshot 21w14a and with them came a fantastic new Deep Dark loot with the useful addition of a compass that helps you find where you died!

I had a bit of an item revamp idea for the Echo Shards, however. What if in a similar fashion to ancient debris in bastion chests, there was a less refined version of Echo Shards called Echo Shrapnel. Then, you would have to combine the Echo Shrapnel with an Amethyst shard on the Smithing table to create an Echo Shard, and THEN you can craft the Recovery Compass.

The current spawn rate of Echo Shards could be replaced with Echo Shrapnel, then making Echo Shards a lesser common loot find!

Just a couple of ideas for a few ways I feel the Echo Shard item can be both expanded on, and incorporated more into the pre-existing elements of the game!..

  Love this idea! Definitely would be neat to have more layers onto this so that items made with the echo shard would be even more difficult to get! 
  Since we have so many items already, I was fairly satisfied having only the recovery compass crafting recipe for now as I'd be perfectly fine with more being added in later updates. But I'd say this is actually the one extra thing I'd ask for, because going through that extra work of having the Smithing table and the amethyst shards would be awesome and definitely would give me more incentive to not only work harder to get the materials, but it would probably also make me want to visit multiple ancient cities to collect everything I need (and see all the other main building types!) It would also make any other crafting recipes they could add for the echo shard feel much more worth it!
