Hello Mojang,
Abandoning the April Fools carry/throw mechanics would be criminal. Mob & block throwing beckons back to minecraft's early days of more block based mechanics. This could open the door to a whole new meta in all the niche interactions the game offers.
To you, the player reading - throw/carry mechanics introduce new angles to every approach conceivable in minecraft. Players could throw glowstone to light up the far reaches of massive caves. Throw villagers at attacking players near iron golems. Make fast getaways by throwing a crafting table at a wall already in a craftable pattern. Unlimited applications are possible.
However, we can understand hesitation for making throwing an inherent mechanic accessible to a bare-bones empty inventory players; this may be too big of a change to basic mechanics. This can be addressed by making carrying/throwing available through use of a end game tier item - power gloves. These could be found in in the Deep Dark to further encourage exploration of the overworld's late game environments. This would not be too radical of a change to minecraft as the precedent of adding novel, game play altering item-enabled mechanics have been established with the elytra. It is an item which heavily alters how the player interacts with the game when obtained while also serving as incentive for late game exploration. Power gloves would be in the same spirit of the elytra in this regard with even more applications.
