Mangrove roots, or maybe just waterlogged mangrove roots, should allow players to move through them, like you would through scaffolding (just horizontally and also with slowed movement. They would not be able to press jump to move up, or sneak to move down, rather just free fall as if they were in regular water). Then soul sand and magma blocks should be able to make bubbles through waterlogged mangrove roots. This is just basically to allow players to build water elevators in a one block space, without having to place blocks around the elevator to stop water from flowing outward. Alternatively players could maybe only be able to pass through the top and bottoms of the waterlogged roots, allowing a confined water elevator that players can’t fall out of through the sides. This would then also make it easier to let items move through them, and placing mangrove roots directionally could allow water to flow sideways without flowing out of the roots, making them almost like pipes.
