With the new Ancient Cities, one piece of loot that appears in chests is snowballs. These were added so that players can use them as a projectile to distract the Warden from approaching the player, but the more you think about it, the less it makes sense.
While having a throwable projectile is a really good idea, snowballs only show up in the ice box structure, which is weird considering a core mechanic of the Warden is that projectiles distract it, but having snowballs in other chests wouldn't make sense. The only other projectile that could be used is eggs, which also wouldn’t make sense.
Instead, this could be a really good opportunity to add another type of projectile to the game, and it could even have properties that make it even more useful in the deep dark. I don’t have a set name for it yet, but it would basically be a clump of sculk that can be thrown.
Some properties could include:
- It won’t damage any entities that it collides with (as to not anger the warden easily)
- It has a larger “vibration” range (aka sculk sensors/warden can notice it from a farther distance compared to other items/movements)
- 4 of them can be crafted into a sculk block (and vica versa)
I know it might be excessive to add a whole new projectile to the game, but opening chests in ancient cities is a big risk, and being met with just snowballs isn’t really a good reward.
Thanks for reading! Hope this gets added lol
