The bola is a weapon from the Middle Ages that was used to entangle prey or opponents from a distance (depending on the conditions, the bola had a range of 10–35 meters). It consists of three cords, each 1–1.5 meters long, which are tied together at one end, while the other ends are each attached to a weight, such as a stone or a metal ball.
In the game, the bola would be a tool/weapon that immobilizes players and mobs (excluding bosses) for a few seconds. In order to throw it, you need to charge it up—like with a bow—though in this case, instead of pulling back, you swing the bola above the player's head. Furthermore, as an item, the bola should adopt several characteristics of the ender pearl—such as a maximum stack size of 16 and a cooldown. Additionally, it should be a single-use item, or perhaps one that can only be retrieved once the target is no longer bound, at which point the item would drop again at the target's location.
The crafting recipe could use flint or iron_nuggets for the strings and the weights.
The crafting-recipe could then look like this:
iron_nugget/flint | iron_nugget/flint | iron_nugget/flint
string | string | string
nothing | string | nothing
