Bismuth is a vanilla-friendly progression alternative between iron and diamond. Found deep within deepslate layers, its stone ore variant is exceptionally rare—harder to find than deepslate emeralds or coal.
World Generation & Luminescence
- Buried deep underground are rare Bismuth Geodes lined with Raw Bismuth Blocks.
- Inside geodes, Formative Raw Bismuth blocks grow harvestable Bismuth Crystals that mimic real-world staircase hopper crystals.
- Bismuth ore/blocks emit a faint light level of 1-2, creating an atmospheric glow. Gear, shards, and ingots do not emit light.
Shards, Ingots, and The Texture Variance
- Mining the ore drops a Raw Bismuth Shard that melts into Bismuth Ingots. Shards and ingots feature a deep blue base with scattered, subtle iridescent splotches like copper ore.
- To capture bismuth's dazzling nature, every related block and item features 7 completely random texture variations upon generation or crafting.
- Collecting all 7 visual variants of any bismuth item unlocks the advancement: Crystalline Spectrum.
Tools and Armor & Interaction
Bismuth ingots craft complete tool and armor sets. They bridge the gap to diamond gear by offering noticeably higher durability than iron, allowing longer mining expeditions.

Additionally, the unique geometry of hopper crystals blocks could potentially interact with redstone comparators based on their current growth stage, expanding the world vanilla style.
They also have a new and unique type of block set!
