I would like to request the restoration of PBR (Physically Based Rendering) support for custom player models in Minecraft Bedrock Edition.
Previously, resource packs could apply PBR materials to custom player geometry, allowing creators to use advanced rendering features such as normal maps, MER maps, and other PBR properties on player models.
However, this functionality appears to have been removed or broken in recent versions of Bedrock Edition.
This limitation significantly affects add-on creators who customize the player's appearance, especially projects that rely on custom player models, armor, clothing, and other visual elements.
PBR support is already available for other assets, such as blocks, items, and entities. It would be extremely beneficial if custom player models could receive the same material support.
My request is to restore full PBR compatibility with custom player geometry, regardless of the player's selected vanilla or custom skin.
This would give creators much more freedom to develop visually advanced add-ons and experiences.
