It always bothered me and many people that the side textures of Stripped Dark Oak don't really match the top texture. At the same time, simply changing the side texture would not be a good idea, because various buildings already use them in ways that only work because of their side color.
In real life, there's a type of tree known as Ebony, and they are known for having a light-colored sapwood and a dark-colored hardwood. We can assume that something similar happens with Dark Oak.
So what if, you could strip the Stripped Dark Oak once again, and that way you get a version of the block with a darker-colored side texture?
It would be called 'Dark Oak Heart' for the logs, and 'Dark Oak Core' for the wood: versions of the block without the sapwood, exposing the tree's dark-colored heartwood.
They would work the same as any other log in crafting recipes - but they would also come with 2 extra recipes: Dark Oak Heart Shelves and Dark Oak Heart Hanging Signs. This is due to these blocks being made with stripped logs and their textures using their respective Stripped Logs as a base.
This addition would be welcome for building enthusiasts, as well as resolving a long-time inconsistency without negativelly affecting existing buildings.
