Now with the new Ice Caves, Minecraft needs a proper permafrost block! Imagine a frozen, ancient layer beneath the ice caves, with its own block set for building and exploration. A rough permafrost block, building variants, and maybe a snowy or frozen mixed with dirt top texture would fit perfectly into the underground ice biome.
It could make ice caves feel much older and more natural, especially alongside brittle ice and the even a possible mammoth-like fossils buried within it. It would also be great for builders who want to create frozen ruins, prehistoric landscapes, or arctic bases.
What if the deepest ice caves were hiding an entire frozen world beneath the surface?
