The Vamp + Dark Powder

Don't go into the dark without Torches! The Vamp is an undead mob that lurks in the shadows, and while it may look a bit like a zombie, don't be fooled, it's much more dangerous. If the Vamp hits you, you'll receive the "Vamp's Curse," which means that you'll only be able to restore hunger if you deal damage to something! It's like you're "stealing" their life essence to restore your own. If you don't have a helmet on, you'll also take damage in the sun! It's a terrible curse which will last until you respawn, or until you eat a Golden Apple. Fortunately, the Vamp is afraid of light. It will flee from any light source, and it burns up in sunlight just like most undead. If you do manage to defeat it, the Vamp will drop a new light-sensitive item called "Dark Powder." It's almost invisible, and it can be placed on the ground much like Redstone Dust. Dark Powder will "remember" the first light source above 0 that it is exposed to, and retain that light level perpetually!

    The Dark Powder would do essentially what players are accustomed to doing with Glow Lichen or String, sometimes you just need an invisible thing to place on the ground to prevent things from spawning there, or help you light up a large build properly without changing the look of it.
