Furnace minecarts could become Minecraft’s autonomous freight engine instead of a forgotten novelty.
Fueling one would start its burn time, but it would remain still until nudged by a player, collision, or sloped powered rail. Its first nudge sets direction. It could push OR pull a coupled train, never both at once. Missing rail, an end block, or a deactivated powered rail would stop it without breaking the train. A powered rail aimed into a block would reverse it, so carts previously pulled are then pushed.
Deactivated powered rails could act as brakes. Hoppers beside the track could refuel passing or stopped furnace minecarts. A hopper minecart coupled directly behind one could also feed fuel into its single internal fuel slot. While actively fueled, a furnace minecart would keep a small surrounding area loaded, allowing both moving trains and stationary, continuously fueled carts to function as chunk loaders.
Chains should have a hard maximum length, never auto-uncouple on hills or turns, and only decouple deliberately, such as with an activator rail.. While pulling a train, hitting any uncoupled minecart—empty, chest, hopper, or furnace—would stop the entire train rather than add, push, or reverse it.
Fuel sources should be expanded to include Coal Blocks, Dried Kelp Blocks, and Blaze Rods.
The goal is useful rail logistics: autonomous freight, scheduled routes, remote farms, and meaningful long-distance infrastructure.
