Minecraft needs a solar system update. Going to the nether and the end over and over gets so boring, we need actual new worlds to explore.
The coolest way to get there would be flying straight up. No portals at all. You just keep going up until you leave earth, and when you look back, earth is just this massive rendering cube in the distance. Space itself would feel like a total void. If you misstep or fall off your ship, you just drop into the dark and die exactly like falling into the void in the end.
Traveling would be crazy because planets would actually orbit at real speeds, so their coordinates are constantly moving. The moon is about 23,855 blocks out. It's tiny, like 85 times smaller than earth, and the terrain is a weird mix of bedrock, stone, lava, and ice. If you keep flying out to about 60,000 blocks away, you hit a deep space zone that seamlessly warps you straight into the end dimension, making the end look like some creepy pocket of outer space.
If you push past that to 140,000 blocks, you hit mars. It's only 11% the size of earth and mostly made of red terracotta, iron, and bedrock, so resources are super scarce. The rest of the solar system would be similar: mercury is a tiny basalt and gold rock flying at high speeds close to the sun, venus is a deathtrap of magma blocks, and the giant gas planets like jupiter and saturn can't even be walked on, but you can mine their rings for raw quartz and packed ice. It Would Load Chunk by chunk.
