There would generate a new altar in front of the portal. In the altar, there's couple of the new special note blocks and a gradient of colorful blocks from red to purple. Those blocks would be blocks that typically have special interactions with note blocks and correlate to the colors of the note block lights. I chose cinnabar, copper, gold, potent sulfur, emerald, packed ice, lapis and amethyst. To activate the portal, you need to have 8 note blocks on top of those blocks and play them.
The recipe I thought for them was: 2 glow ink sacs, a note block, 2 amethyst shards, 2 prismarine shards, soul soil and maybe an echo shard if they were renewable. To condense this, I won't talk about all of them. Prismarine crystals need more uses, would promote exploration, and would reinforce the connection with cold ocean ruins. (They can generate with sea lanterns and have the mourner pottery sherd) Soul Soil is a way to lock Sift after the Nether. Idk about Mojang's vision and it could be replaced with something else if it doesn't fit the vision.
Pros and cons:
- Old players could build these on their old worlds. This would be especially important for players who have spend a lot of time renovating their cities.
- New players could accidentally destroy the altar (Can be rebuilt).
- Not everyone of the gradient blocks have a note block ineraction. I chose them, because those could benefit from note block ineractions. (Especially amethyst) I also wanted the note blocks to behave like note blocks.
