We all have our personal main weapon early game, either being a sword, axe or even the spear.
The problem
The problem here is that every single tool/weapon we own all look the exact same compared to other tools/weapons of the same material, and so doesn't have any identity.
The solution
The idea is to be able to dye the tools/weapon's wooden handles/guards using, well, dyes of course. It would all be done in the smithing table as it's function is to upgrade and customize gear.
Does it fit?
Is has been shown in different spinoffs that tools/weapons are indeed decorated or at least dyed. Take the iron sword in Minecraft dungeons 1 the guard is blue, in dungeons 2 its guard is pink AND yellow in some promotional materials somehow, so it's pretty much established in the canon that it was common thing to dye their weapon.
Why?
Well that same thing got fixed for armors with armor trims showing the player's experience through items found around the world, so let's also give that personalisation to tools/weapons as well in a more simple way, since its the very first thing you craft early game.
