The Minecraft Community is divided over its combat system. I would identify three distinct factions within the PvP community:
- "1.8" (1.7-1.8 PvP - Classic Combat)
- "1.16" (1.9-26.4 PvP - Modern Combat)
- "1.19" (Combat Test 8 - Experimental Combat)
Over the years, one might have thought that this divide was no longer such a major issue; however, it is worth noting that the combat system is set to be overhauled once again—partly because the Bedrock Edition still utilizes an outdated combat system.
What if we created a server that offered a choice of combat systems, while still featuring the latest Minecraft updates? Both the "1.8" and "1.19" communities would have access to the newest Minecraft content, with the combat system being the only point of difference. This way, players wouldn't have to sacrifice any of the game's new features. We could gather feedback from all the various PvP communities to either select the best existing combat system or develop an entirely new one that appeals to every PvP group. It would also be worthwhile to establish specific criteria that any new combat system must meet. These would be:
- Must be suitable for both PvP and PvE
- Must be enjoyable for both new players and veterans
- Must be compatible for both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition
In this way, we could resolve the issue of split among Minecraft players and create a more sophisticated combat system that works across mobile devices, computers, and consoles.
