The problem with this is that it's most likely just to sell more marketplace content
With a better implementation I think it would be really cool in vanilla across both games, but things like the model would need fixing and in general it would need to fit in better
I'm theory it would be really cool to buy custom discs that wouldn't be an addon if this was in the game with a better style and it could fit in both versions
You might have the ability to add your own custom discs on java as well whilst still being free
The base game functions of this would have to be reworked though for example if you gave an allay a juke box it would follow you and play it instead of a weird walkman looking thing
Also the ability to listen to original tracks on demand is so cool but it would be nice if this come to vanilla to have a price for the blank discs for example you might find them or they might cost a diamond and iron to make
And most importantly the model for the disc burner looks somewhat half assed for the Minecraft style but maybe that's just me (a full block would be cooler tho)

That UI is so much better than the discs in a chest with a label; they really should do something like this across the board. Maybe even turn the jukebox/disc press into a workstation and add a "musician" profession to allow buying some of the discs from the villagers, with higher levels allowing us to buy discs normally found as rare drops or even unique to the profession.

Why couldn't this be a vanilla feature in some capacity?

Hi, this isn't something related to the add-on, but it would be nice to add it to vanilla:

System for choosing music by the artist you want:

With this system, you can choose the artists you want to hear in the game's randomly selected music. In the sound menu, there will be a sub-section for artists where you will find all the artists who have music in Minecraft, and you can choose which artists you want to hear and which you don't. This “artist selection” will only work for songs that play randomly in the game; it will not apply to discs.

I think if this is added to Java the music should be stored in a folder under ~/.minecraft/, where you can put mp3 files. otherwise I don't think I'd ever use this feature.

I'd suggest a new resourcepack destination (e.g. musicpack), but also just a client side folder that need no formatting. needing to use the file explorer is a big hurdle for a ton of Minecrafters I know, if I had to choose I'd say put the music under assets/music.

I feel like also a namespace under assets/Minecraft/textures/music for custom disc textures that can be linked to a specific item/music disc in the music disc table thing, also some json file under data/Minecraft/music. for additional item compatibility in making a custom textured disc in a datapack. (The ability to add new item recipes for new disc textures if that wasn't clear)

Feel free to use anything I said here is love to see this in the main game!

Honestly I love this and all but why not make this a actual feature in the vanilla game? It be so much better if yall added this as a actual feature rather than a addon were you have to manually add it than it already being in the game.

The crafting recipes aren’t very good.
The blank disc should use resin
The disc press should use a piston
And the pocket jukebox should use a jukebox or at least a diamond

I think the idea is genius, for a long time youtubers have been playing with mods to include music in the vanilla game, and i even use this on my server with my friends, but the implementation is janky and not perfect. With something like these features, all of this would be able to be done in vanilla or very close to vanilla. This feature has to be added as part of the vanilla game for both bedrock and java.

    mojang please read this

mojang please add a way so that you can use a new block to create custom sheet music by putting notes of different lengths and tones like actual sheet music and then you put it in the disc press to turn it into a custom disc if you add that it would also be cool if you added it to vanilla

I love the idea of the disc press, though it is a little ugly. The model could just be improved a bit. I also think that the pocket jukebox is an EXCELENT idea. Everything about it is amazing. Now I have no need for Spotify when playing Minecraft. The only thing that I really dislike about this is the fact that it is not on Java. Java is my main way of playing Minecraft, so if this add-on is only on Bedrock, I'll be extremely bummed along with most other Java users. Please please PLEASE really consider adding this to Java and make it part of vanilla Minecraft for both Java and Bedrock. It would be very fun and convenient to be allowed to play all of my favorite Minecraft songs while in game.

I think pocket jukeboxes should have regular jukeboxes in their crafting recipe.
Simply having a better version of the jukebox without havung to use a diamond trivialises the jukebox in my opinion.

Let us put custom music in the discs. It would be really cool if you can make your own music you can play anywhere in your world instead of using a row of noteblocks that only works on one location. How it will work: Add another block, you can put a disc inside it and it will open a menu where you can select what kind of sound it makes and when it plays it, like chrome music lab. When you are done the music will be stored into the disc and can be played anywhere!

Also add legacy music like the Nether music and more

about Lena Raine, Aaron Cherof, Amos Roddy, Kumi Tanioka, and more

This is a very nice idea. The model should be cleaned up but everything else fits the game very nicely. My additional suggestions: Integrate it with the Sift (I don't know how exactly but the Sift will be centered around music so it would fit). Custom tracks: you should either be able to upload own music or create sheet music with the note block sounds already in the game. It should integrate with redstone too so you can store information on singular discs which would revolutionize redstone in a good way. You could do this by letting the player assign one redstone signal strength to each beat (2 ticks probably).

Let’s stop pretending this is just a "fun experimental test." We all see exactly what this is: a blatant attempt to test the waters for creeping monetization and paid vanilla updates.
Locking core, survival-ready progression blocks like the Disc Press inside a modular Add-on menu is a dangerous, predatory slippery slope. You are trying to normalize breaking the base sandbox apart so you can sell it back to us piecemeal through the Marketplace.
The concept of the feature is great, but the execution is insulting. Stop trying to turn Minecraft into a live-service storefront. Here is the solution: clean this code up, polish it, and add it natively to the base vanilla game files for BOTH Bedrock and Java. While you are at it, change the revolting texture of the Disc Press block so it actually fits the game's aesthetic. We buy Minecraft once, and we get the updates for life. Do not break that promise.

Great feature! But honestly should just be a vanilla feature not an add-on, Java players are gonna miss out on portable jukeboxes + a ton of iconic music discs from Minecraft’s history. Hopefully this eventually comes to the vanilla base-game. Also, it would be nice if you are able to fuse the portable jukebox to your pants armor or just hang it on another armor slot so you don’t have to use up an item slot. Other then that great job and great add-on!

I for one would love to see an additional music block! The Disc cutter: A block to record noteblock songs onto music discs. I made a separate post that goes into detail. But it would be cool if you could create your own discs to copy with the Disc Press.

Check out the post, and let me know what you think. It's called:

The (Music) Disc Cutter! A new music related block!

Does anyone else think it's hilarious that Mojang is pinning their own submissions?

    No.

Why is it that the pocket jukebox can hold 20 discs but the regular jukebox can only hold one, whereas IRL, jukeboxes can hold tons on discs and songs, whereas the walkman only holds 1?

Obviously I think these should be switched. Jukeboxes should be able to hold many discs at once, and pocket jukeboxes' main appeal should just be that it can be carried around, not how many discs can be stored in it.

Also, the number of discs that can be stored should be 16, not 20, matching other items like ender pearls. Music discs should be changed to stack up to 16, but only of the same kind of music disc. If you want to combine them, you'd have to use a bundle. This way you can carry around a bundle full of music discs, and you can pop them into your pocket jukebox when one is finished playing.

The crafting recipe should be altered accordingly. I suggest replacing the blank disc with a glass pane, and the bundle with a jukebox or noteblock. Or perhaps just a blank disc.

I love the little animation of the item opening up and showing the disc inside. It's like a little chest! But it would also be great if you could see the disc inside even when the pocket jukebox is closed. It could also display the name of the song playing when the player scrolls to it or hovers over it, much like an enchanted book

The color of the discs should be much more customizable. You should be able to change the color of the outside circle (like how Pigstep is red and Tears is white), the color of the inside circle with multiple colors and designs (like Otherside being blue and green, and Mellohi being purple and white), and the color of the exterior edge and inside dot (like 5 being blue, and Bounce being yellow).

Rather than having a GUI that is just filled with all songs ever, I would much rather have it so that you just add more music discs to the world that you have to find. Then, like Armor Trims, if you want more of them you have to duplicate them rather than craft them, this being done with the Disc Press.

Alternatively, rather than finding whole music discs, one could find disc fragments, and these could be pressed together back into one.

If Pocket Jukeboxes are changed to only be able to hold 1 disc at a time, I would suggest the addition of mixtapes, er, mixdiscs. You would essentially just combine music discs into one, possibly using the Disc Press, like you would combine enchanted books together. The order that you combine the discs is the order that the discs would play in.

They need to make this available on Switch because we're still stuck on 26.60.

I really like the idea, but it would be cool if the disc press had an interaction with the calibrated sculk so the player could record their own music with note blocks and turn them into discs.

That would be a very good bonus.
