Banner patterns are often overlooked, and I believe one way to bring more attention to them is by giving them unique markers on maps. If a player right-clicks a banner with a map, and that banner has a banner pattern on it (Snout, Guster, Globe, etc.), instead of the standard banner marker, the map would gain a marker corresponding with the pattern. The color of the marker's outline could always be black, or determined by the color of the banner. Here are some ideas I had for banner pattern map markers:
- Field Masoned: a brick or brick block
- Bordure Indented: a bordure (shield border) or jungle temple marker from the Jungle Explorer Map
- Flower Charge: a flower head
- Creeper Charge: a creeper face
- Skull Charge: a skull face
- Thing: the Mojang symbol, golden apple or grass block
- Globe: a globe or village marker from Village Maps (the specific marker can be determined by the biome of the cartographer villager who traded the banner pattern)
- Snout: a pig snout outline or bastion remant
- Flow: a spiral, or trial chambers marker from the Trial Explorer Map
- Guster: a wind charge or Breeze face
Not only would this give players more ways to customize their maps, but it could also give markers exclusively seen in the Explorer Maps more use. In fact, it could bring new loot to old structures: banner patterns that give the Explorer Map marker of the structure. I feel like this would be a fun addition to a game drop that has a similar vibe to Trails and Tales or Wilderness Bound!
