With the new sift dimension coming, it would be cool if you could make a unique coordinate system, similar to the way every one block in the nether is 8 blocks in the overworld, except using more advanced math.
It would work by using complex numbers and calculus so that moving in one direction doesn’t always take you in a straight line to where you expect. The Sift would have its own coordinate system, where distance, rotation, and sine waves affect how locations connect to the Overworld.
The system would use trigonometry, algebra, and mathematical transformations to convert coordinates between the two dimensions. It would also use 64 chunk symmetry, creating repeating patterns that players could discover and use to navigate.
Sine waves could distort distances, making some portals lead closer together while others connect to places much farther away. The farther a player travels from the origin, the more the coordinate system could twist and change. This would create unusual pathways, unexpected shortcuts, and challenging navigation.
Players could experiment with portal locations, map the coordinate patterns, and learn how the Sift connects to the Overworld. Players who enjoy mathematics could study the system to find efficient routes, while other players could simply explore and discover this system naturally.
I worked out a demo but don’t have enough room to include it in here.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to try to influence a game that I love.
