More Fruit Trees & Food Diversity: Educational Value and Gameplay
Minecraft inspires millions of children in both the base game and Education Edition. Expanding food variety—especially fruits—would be a great way to encourage healthy habits, as many kids skip meals or choose junk food while playing. The beetroot is a prime example: many players discovered it in-game and became curious to try it in real life. However, food options remain limited, and adding at least one new food per update would enrich survival.
Adding fruits like strawberries, grapes, pineapples, and cherries would introduce fun new farming mechanics. Developers missed a great chance to add cherries with the Cherry Blossom tree; even if the real tree is ornamental, Minecraft is a fantasy game where harvestable cherries make total sense. Also, apples dropping from oaks is unnatural; fruits should grow directly on leaves so players can harvest them without chopping down the tree.
To keep it simple, Mojang wouldn't need new wood sets for each tree. They could use basic Oak trunks with unique fruit leaves, just like the Azalea or popular mods do. Having this natively in the base game is essential, as many young players cannot install mods.
