Crafting sand from Nautilus Shells

Placing a nautilus shell into the crafting table gives you 4 sand blocks. This would make a way to have a renewable sand source while still not undermining the value of collecting sand manually. This would not be an over powered farm and would mimick real life where shells are broken down which makes sand. Alternatively, the recipe could be similar to course dirt where it takes 2 sand and 2 shells to make 16 sand.
