Mojang, please give greater priority to code stability and compatibility for the Minecraft modding community.
As a mod developer, it is frustrating to spend time updating a mod because code has been moved, removed, or substantially changed—especially when similar functionality returns in a later version. These changes can turn routine updates into significant rewrites, taking time away from fixing bugs and creating new features.
We understand that Minecraft needs to evolve, and that some breaking changes are necessary. What would help is a more consistent foundation for mod development: stable interfaces where possible, clearly documented changes, migration guidance, and a reasonable deprecation period before existing functionality is removed.
The modding community has played a huge part in Minecraft’s longevity. Mods give players new reasons to return, support entire communities, and extend the game in ways its original developers could never cover alone. I believe Minecraft would be far less enduring without that contribution.
Please treat compatibility and developer support as priorities. Making mods easier to maintain benefits mod developers, players, and Minecraft itself.
