Title: Make Minecart with Furnace a Functional Locomotive
Currently, the Minecart with Furnace is almost useless. It’s slow, hard to control, and can’t pull other carts. I propose a simple change that uses existing mechanics: allow it to act as a locomotive that can pull other minecarts.
How it would work:
· Use a Chain to connect minecarts together. Tap/right-click on one cart with a Chain, then on another, to link them. Tap again to unlink. This is intuitive and works on all platforms, including mobile.
· A fueled Minecart with Furnace will move on its own along rails, just like it does now, but it will also pull any carts connected to it.
· To control it, use Activator Rails. When an Activator Rail under the furnace cart is powered, it stops (like a brake). When unpowered, it continues moving as long as it has fuel. This gives players control without adding new UI or complex driving mechanics.
· The furnace cart consumes coal as fuel, and the more carts it pulls, the slower it goes and the more fuel it uses.
Why this fits vanilla Minecraft:
· It uses only existing items: Chain, Coal, Activator Rail.
· No new items, blocks, or interfaces are needed.
· It keeps the physics-based, indirect control style of minecarts.
· It works equally well on Java and Bedrock, including touch controls.
· It solves a long-standing problem: the Minecart with Furnace is currently a dead item.
