My idea is to introduce a player-made “ore” called Steel Alloy Ingots, a new crafting material using Iron, Coal, and a new type of stone called Limestone, which can commonly be found in oceans and in terrain that is surrounded by an ocean. This would give players a reason to collect these resources while adding a new step to Minecraft crafting progression. Players could use the 2x2 grid in their inventory or crafting table to make Steel Alloy Ingots. However, to make the Armor and tools you will have to use the crafting table. Now, I believe it’s only appropriate to answer the obvious questions you may have. First, a full set would provide 18 armor points. Second, all its tools will have 350 durability about 100 more than iron tools. However, Steel Alloy armor would have different durability values: 200 for the Helmet, 275 for the Chestplate, 260 for the leggings, and 230 for the boots, giving the full set a combined durability of 965. Finally, Steel Alloy Ingots would be better than Iron but weaker than diamond? Now what about its tools base damage? It’s fairly simple it can have the base damage of diamond tools which means diamond and Netherite base damages would need to be adjusted to maintain balanced progression.
