I believe Minecraft needs this iconic, historical block not just for its visual design, but for its gameplay utility. Here is how it could work using existing game mechanics:
1. Randomized Texture Veins (Aesthetic):
To solve the issue of breaking texture lines on blocks, Marble could utilize the game’s existing random texture rotation system (currently used for Calcite and Dirt). When placed, the block's natural grey/gold veins would rotate randomly, avoiding the "grid effect" and making every wall or column look organic and unique.

2. Dynamic Polishing Mechanics (Crafting):
Just like Copper oxidizes over time, Marble could have a progression system based on craftsmanship. When mined, it starts as "Raw Marble" (opaque and rough). Using an Axe on it would progressively scrape and polish the surface, revealing shiny and distinct veins through multiple stages. Beeswax could be used to lock the desired level of polish.

3. Acoustic Insulation (Redstone Functionality):
Reflecting its real-world density, Marble could act as the first acoustic barrier in Minecraft. Placed between a noise source (like a Piston) and a Sculk Sensor or the new mechanics of The Sift, Marble would completely block the vibration from traveling through it. This would revolutionize Redstone engineering, allowing silent factories and hidden contraptions.

Adding Marble with these properties would give builders the historical element they dream of, while giving Redstone players a powerful tool for automation.
