A more interesting and unusual effect of freezing and ways to deal with it.
Problem: Freezing currently works as a cosmetic variation of Poison: just damage over time. It doesn’t convey the feeling of temperature and doesn’t encourage seeking warmth.
Solution: The effect from any source lasts longer and deals more damage. Heat and light sources (Torches, Furnaces, Campfires, Lava) should suppress Freezing: blocking damage and Slowness while near them, but not removing the effect itself. The timer continues running in the background. Ice mobs fear heat and light just as undead fear sunlight.
How It Works:
· The player receives Freezing (Frostbite attacks, Ice Shards).
·Near heat, damage, Slowness, and reduced jump height are not applied, but the timer continues.
· Move away — the effect applies again with the same remaining time.
Gameplay Impact:
· Ice Caves: to warm up, you need to light up the area, but torches trigger falling icicles.
· Frostbite — a new zombie variant that applies Freezing in melee — becomes genuinely dangerous.
· Potion of Freezing (from Ice Shards) in PvP: an enemy at a Campfire is less vulnerable while within the radius of heat.
· Immersion grows: temperature feels like a state of the environment rather than just another debuff.
