Quests and Nether Chest
I suggest adding a quest system to Minecraft. Achievements already encourage players to explore and progress, but completing them could also provide tangible rewards.
When a player completes an achievement or special quest, the reward would automatically appear in a new Nether Chest. Rewards could include ordinary resources, rare items, unique music discs, decorative items, or completely new collectibles. For example, completing “Free the End” could reward a unique White Dragon Egg.
The Nether Chest would function like a normal chest: players could open it at any time, in any dimension, and store their own items inside. However, whenever a quest or achievement is completed, its reward would automatically appear in the chest. A visual effect or sound could indicate that a new reward has arrived.
The Nether Chest could be crafted from Nether Bricks, Obsidian, a Ghast Tear and a Netherite Scrap, making it expensive but obtainable during normal survival gameplay.
Players could also enable “Receive Nether Chest” in the world creation settings. If enabled, the player would receive one at the beginning of the game.
This system would give achievements a more meaningful purpose, encourage exploration and long-term progression, and provide players with unique rewards without making them mandatory for completing the game.
