imagine a Chalk that can be used to draw arrows on blocks to indicate directions, it would be extremely useful for navigating the labyrinthine caves, knowing the exit of a Pillager Mansion (or indicating already explored rooms), making marks in the forest to find your way back to a structure, marking paths in the Nether, etc...
and even better... that they can be dyed with all 16 dye colors! it would be extremely customizable and Minecrafty, you don't need to add anything that isn't already in the game: 2 Calcite blocks + the dye of the desired color... and even better... adding Glow Ink Sac to make it have the glowing effect like signs or the new ice crystals!
super Minecrafty or not? all of this is well thought out because you would be using blocks that you can find inside a cave to navigate and mark tunnels that have already been explored. and the best part, you don't need a crafting table because it's only 3 or 4 slots, you can craft it in your inventory, even if it is full.
this whole idea comes from the "Chalk" mod by mortuusars, which I've been using for many years and I'm so used to playing with that mod.
before, it was very difficult and expensive to get Calcite because it could only be found in Geodes, but now that we have a cave biome filled with Calcite everywhere, it makes sense to give it an actual use (so it's not just about breaking and placing the same mined block). please consider it Mojang, it would really encourage people to go mining.
