Hi Minecraft Team,
I’m a 9th-grade student in Massachusetts, and I came up with this idea while working on a school project about Dokdo.
My idea is called “DokdoCraft,” an educational Minecraft world where players could travel across Korea’s East Sea, explore Ulleungdo and Dokdo, and learn through missions.
Players could explore Dokdo’s Dongdo and Seodo, learn how the islands were formed through volcanic activity, discover marine life such as Dokdo shrimp, and learn about the Korean sea lion, or gangchi, which historically lived around Dokdo. They could also complete missions about Korean history, geography, conservation, and culture.
There could also be a science mission called “Secrets Beneath the East Sea.” Players could use a research submarine to explore the Ulleung Basin, where scientists have studied methane hydrates. Methane hydrate is an ice-like substance containing methane and is sometimes called “burning ice.” Players could collect samples and learn about geology, marine science, energy, and protecting the ocean.
I think DokdoCraft could make learning fun by combining history, geography, Korean culture, science, and exploration. Many young people already discover Korea through music, food, movies, and games. Minecraft could help them discover another side of Korea too.
This idea is part of my 9th-grade school project about Dokdo, and I would be very excited if Minecraft Education considered something like it in the future.
Thank you for reading my idea!
