With the recent introduction of the official Ice Caves biome, it would be amazing to have a unique resource that encourages players to explore and mine in these freezing depths. I would like to propose a new ore exclusively found in this environment.
Instead of naming it, I want to focus on how it fits into the game mechanics:
- Where it Spawns: It should generate strictly inside the Ice Caves biome, embedded within stone, deepslate, or ice blocks beneath the surface.
- The Concept: This ore would be directly tied to frost and temperature mechanics. Since Ice Caves have special interactions with light and heat, this resource could interact with those rules.
Potential Uses:
- Utility Tools: It could be used to craft tools or a new item that functions perfectly in the dark without melting the surrounding ice (unlike regular torches).
- Player Survival: It could be used to craft an armor piece or an upgrade that protects players from freezing damage or stops them from sliding on slippery ice blocks.
- Specialized Blocks: It could be used to build a localized station or utility block that creates unique area-of-effect frost mechanics.
This would give players a brand-new progression goal and make exploring the freezing underground even more rewarding!
