Disappearing boat (Bedrock version)

Hello, I write this to inform you that I've remarked a bug, or I think it is. I play the bedrock version on my nintendo Switch. When I place a boat, whenever it's a normal boat or one with a chest and then break it, I don't get the item back. Is this normal or not? Thanks for having taken time to read this message.
