With Ice Caves coming, I think a good addition would be the ability to icelog blocks. Waterlogged blocks could freeze over time like how normal water does. Silk Touch would just drop both blocks.
Some of the large pillars of ice that generate in the Ice Caves could maybe contain rare ores or even chests of loot frozen inside of them, which is an atmospheric change that I think would definitely upgrade the visuals of the biome while also acting like a reward at the same time.
Probably would only work with regular ice blocks, though.
