For me, missing WASD controls is such a dealbreaker that I probably won't play the game.
Please add WASD controls...you'll get a ton of new players!

absolutely amazing idea, with the point and click it feels off and sometimes just doesn't feel responsive plus i've seen people make scripts and stuff to make WASD work in the original, it's not an impossible idea and i feel it wouldn't be hard to implement in such a game

I agree with you. The absence of WASD controls stopped me from buying the game.

I'm ok with mouse pointer if there was a toggle for wasd, but obviously its not here. It just feels weird that theres no support for wasd the game looks and feels like it would work perfectly fine with it wasd.

A screenshot of a dev build from a while back literally had a "WASD_toggle" setting. Also, people are now figuring out WASD actually does exist in the game but it's hidden behind a feature flag that's disabled by default. The game overall has some very weird design choices over the first game. I don't wanna go as far to say it's a flop so soon, but in all honesty I have no desire to play it anymore.

They exist internally as a dev tool allegedly, but they disabled it on release. Truly, one of the decisions of all time.

Its not just WASD, there's practically no controller support either and no settings to change anything. I bought Dungeons 2 through the Minecraft Launcher rather than Steam, so none of my controllers work for this game. Nintendo Switch USB controller doesn't work, and my brother's X-Box controller doesn't work either. This game forces me to use the worst possible control scheme.

It was such a baffling choice for the first game, I don't understand why a joystick on a controller works for movement but WASD doesn't.

I exclusively played Dungeons 1 on a controller since being limited to mouse seriously hurts reaction time and is overall a pain compared to moving with WASD or a controller.

I can't imagine why this hasn't been implemented yet beyond stubbornness.

I agree. Even if Mojang won't make it the default, they can at least let us set the key bindings!

I tried last night and this morning and I just can't. After minecraft dungeons 1, it was obvious that WASD movement was something that players wanted and the choice not to implement it was intentional. They had it available in early builds of the game and decided to remove it as an option.  If I had to guess, its part of a marketing strategy to sell more controllers. I just don't think buying a 60 dollar controller to play a 30 dollar game is a reasonable ask and they try to force it on you by making the keyboard and mouse controls ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!!!!!! on controller, people can run backwards and shoot at the enemy, AT THE SAME TIME, but not on keyboard and mouse because my aim and movement are both tied to the left mouse key. They claim they did this to stick with the tradition of other isometric action rpgs, but of course they said that, I would say that too if I knew what I was doing was a shady marketing scheme to sell controllers. If they did it to be like other isometric action rpgs... then could they also give us the option to enable wasd like other isometric action rpgs.  Either way, I tried to play it regardless, and I might return if they add wasd, but I might not. Just imagine coding a game and adding wasd controls in the early build because your testers were frustatred with the controls just to remove it for your actual fans so you can sell them controllers.

Struggling to fight cuz auto combat movement is weird as heck. I try to attack one guy, and it targets the guy next to it by like 2 degrees, so the creeper blows up instead of being two shot or three shot. This has caused multiple deaths. Not to mention the thing will bug out on SOME interactables and just travel tons of blocks away towards a nothing area where there isnt anything connected to said interactable (found in case of a button in a dungeon near brave haven)

The mouse-oriented gameplay is meant to serve as a fun throwback to how old dungeon crawlers used to play, but I really, really don't like that being the only option. Would appreciate a more modern control scheme as a compliment, agreed.

I simply will not buy it if there is no WASD support. I LOVED the first game even without WASD but the jump button makes it clear that mouse input doesn't work anymore. And if I don't buy it then my friends who were going to buy it to play with me said they aren't either.

WASD is needed. It's in lots of new ARPGs and even in MOBAs now. It would really help me play, help make things like jumping a lot smoother.

Almost all of my deaths have been caused by point and click movement just deciding I actually wanted to just sit there and eat hits for no reason instead of continuing to walk after rolling. I initially thought the sculk monstrosity charging punch attack actually pulled me in because click to move was deciding that me clicking away from the boss meant I wanted to have a melee brawl.

Would absolutely love this, the clicking feels so unresponsive sometimes as it randomly attacks enemies next to you when you are trying to run away...

I suspect the reason why WASD wasn’t included was because it makes parkour impossible and the devs couldn’t find a good way to implement it. I’m not sure how other games implement this but as far as I can tell it’s only 8 direction movement which isn’t ideal for MCD 2. Possibly an alternative would be to use the mouse as left stick: Moving the mouse moves your character without clicking or pathfinding (no cursor, or rather your cursor is restricted to a smallish region around the centre so you have precise movement control). This is similar to the camera controls in games like Everspace (1 and 2) (though I am suggesting this for movement, not camera). Attacks can still be made by clicking (like controllers), but moving is based on mouse position. This makes ranged attacks worse (but no worse than for controllers) and rolling worse as there’s no right stick and hence no directional roll (I think this is not too bad and ultimately worth it). Both of these could maybe be mitigated by modifier keys. I think this would work better than WASD (though I think the current system is probably worse than both). In any case I think communication about your plans to improve the movement system or your reason for disabling WASD would be helpful and possibly allow for more useful feedback from the community.

please add wasd! after hours of playing, with the amount of stuff going on in fights, ambushes, boss fights, etc point and click is very difficult to use and maneuver. especially with some monstrosity bosses dashing towards you and you accidentally click on it, making you go right towards it rather than dodging

    This is a priority addition.

I played with a controler because I disliked 100% the controls of this game on PC.

Mouse/Keyboard control RN on the game are making it difficult on parkour section since your character does'nt go where you want to, it pathfind and the pathfinding is bad. You deprived of important mechanics also like hitting without enemies on your click zone. Since your character default action is moving on right click if you're not actively aiming for an enemy, it wont attack.

Meaning you miss important gameplay like zone jump attacks with weapons like the Prime Enchanter Gauntlet (that does a lot less damage on direct hit by the way so you want always have the wave at midrange of the enemy pack).

The WASD mod just refined that with minimal work and it's giving the controler feeling. This should be even a question at this point

IT LACKS COMMON SENSE. Why would a game be released on PC and not have PC movement. It pisses me off so much.

with the inconsistency of the mouse movement and the fact that you allow analog movement for controller this would seem like a fairly easy accessibility option for gamers that prefer to play ARPG in this fashion. I humbly request it for consideration!

Please add optional WASD movement controls to Minecraft Dungeons II! Click-to-move is a huge turn-off for me on PC, especially since the game already supports keyboard inputs for actions like jumping. Please let us choose between WASD and click-to-move instead of forcing everyone to use one control scheme. 🙏

This is not an exaggeration, the game is unplayable with a keyboard and mouse.
