To address the issue of not being able to see ores in the ice caves, they introduced "blobs" of ore so players could find them—but what if the ore was actually *inside* the ice itself?
As we know, there are already stone and deepslate variants of ores. Adding even more variants could worsen inventory clutter—nobody wants three different types of iron ore in their inventory! Yet, everyone wants immersive biomes.
That’s why I came up with a solution that could apply to any block or ore.
I’ll call it: "Embedded Ores."
Here is how I envision it working:
(Ore = ore block)
1. Inventory
Imagine a gold ore block where the base material is ice instead of stone.
You would see, for example, gold ore embedded in the ice. When you mine it—specifically with Silk Touch—you receive a standard gold ore block (stone or deepslate) and an ice ball. This solves the inventory problem by counting the item as one of the existing variants rather than adding new item types to your survival inventory; it’s essentially just an alternative texture for the ore. But what if you want to use it for decoration?
2. Building
It’s simple. Remember that ice ball?
That’s one of my two ideas for a solution.
The first method: Shift-right-click an ore block with an ice ball to transform it into an ore block with an icy texture.
The second method involves transforming the block by embedding raw ore into it. Imagine a calcite block with embedded coal!
