Minecraft Dungeons II introduces Talismans: equippable items that provide passive bonuses. I think a version of this system could fit vanilla Minecraft if it were tied to exploration, archaeology, structures, and environmental storytelling.
Players could equip up to three Talismans at once. Their effects should be useful but situational, rather than giving permanent Strength, Resistance, or other powerful potion effects.
Common Talismans could come from villages, with effects related to farming, trading, animals, or travel. Rarer ones could be found through archaeology, Trail Ruins, Ancient Cities, Trial Chambers, Bastions, Nether Fortresses, Strongholds, End Cities, and eventually the Sift.
Each Talisman could reflect the place or culture it came from. For example, an Ancient City Talisman might reduce some vibrations while sneaking, hinting that its creators needed to move quietly around sculk. A Bastion Talisman could affect Piglin interactions, while an End Talisman could reduce Ender Pearl damage.
This would give exploration and archaeology more lasting rewards, add a small build system through the three-slot limit, and expand Minecraft's lore without requiring a linear story.
