The Problem: Bedrock chunks unload instantly when players move away. Technical players are forced to AFK for hours just to keep farms, super-smelters, and redstone contraptions running. While Java Edition has ways to keep chunks loaded using clever entity tricks, Bedrock survival players have zero vanilla methods to keep chunks active from a distance.
The Solution: Bring Ender Pearl chunk loading mechanics to Bedrock! Instead of adding a custom block, allow suspended Ender Pearls to keep chunks active.
How it could work:
The Mechanic: When an Ender Pearl is suspended in a soul sand bubble column (a Stasis Chamber), or when it bounces across chunk borders/portals, it should generate a chunk ticket to keep that area loaded.
Area of Effect: It could keep the specific chunk it is in—or a small 3x3 chunk area—fully loaded and ticking while the player is away.
Natural Off-Switch: The chunks remain active only as long as the pearl is suspended. Once a player triggers the trap to teleport, the pearl breaks, and the chunks naturally unload.
Why this improves the game:
Parity: Closes a major technical gap between Java and Bedrock communities without altering the vanilla feel of the game.
Rewards Technical Play: Encourages players to build clever redstone contraptions using existing items rather than just placing a simple magic block.
Respects Player Time: Eliminates forced AFK sessions, letting players explore the world while their base operates in the background.
